Hayley Evans – ‘Kind Heart Award’
Hayley from Carmarthenshire is one of our finalists in the ‘Kind Heart Award,’ a category that received an enourmous number of nominations from across Wales. Based on our value of kindness, this is an award for the people we support that highlights those who place caring, compassion and empathy at the heart of everything they do as a member of our community.
Hayley was nominated by a Cartrefi colleague for her ability to “speak up for other people we support” and that she makes it her business to “know their likes, dislikes, routines and strengths.” Including others is really important to Hayley and as her nomination says, “with Hayley, no one is left behind!”
Hayley is an outgoing and proactive member of our Lifeline group in Carmarthen, regularly attending activities at our Water Street hub. She’s crafty and creative and we are so proud of strongly she advocates for others: “Hayley looks after people, she stands up and draws attention to others’ needs.”

Lisa Hodden – ‘Trusted Colleague Award’
Lisa Hodden is a beloved member of our team in West Wales and has had a very busy year as a key part of some big changes we have brought to Cartrefi Cymru Co-operative in Pembrokeshire.
Earlier this year, we moved into our new town centre premises in Haverfordwest, the Cartrefi Cwtsh, bringing us closer to our community and more accessible to the people we support. Lisa helped to make this transformation possible.
As our Administrative Officer in the area, Lisa was at the heart of the logistical and administrative work needed to bring the new Cartrefi Cwtsh to life. As her nomination says, she “took full ownership of the process, demonstrating exceptional organisation, attention to detail, and commitment to ensuring everything ran smoothly.”
Lisa left no detail to chance, “she carefully coordinated all aspects of the move, ensuring that the right tradespeople were booked at the right times, managing deliveries, and keeping everything on track. Her communication throughout was clear and consistent, ensuring everyone involved felt informed and reassured.”
Lisa’s nomination emphasised the impact her personal qualities had on the wider team, saying her “reliability created a sense of trust and reassurance; colleagues knew they could depend on her to handle the complexities of the move, which reduced stress for them and allowed for a more positive experience during a potentially challenging change.”
Lisa’s nomination is a wonderful example of Cartrefi’s value of trust in action.
