On Tuesday 21 July, Cartrefi Cymru Co-operative cut the ribbon on its new community hub for Pembrokeshire: the Cartrefi Cwtsh in Haverfordwest.
The official opening of the Cwtsh was celebrated with a launch party attended by dozens of people supported by Cartrefi, families, friends and members of the local community. The ribbon was cut by Cartrefi Cymru Co-operative CEO, Geraint Jenkins and Haverfordwest town councillor, Lucy Hinksman.
Sally Berry, Cartrefi’s Activities Co-ordinator for Pembrokeshire was the mastermind behind the opening party. Reflecting on the day, she said: “It was a joy to see so many of the people we support, colleagues, volunteers, families, and local community organisations come together to celebrate the launch of our new hub.
“The Cwtsh is a vibrant and welcoming space where adults with learning disabilities and autism can feel at home and enjoy a wide range of activities designed by them, for them.
“From singing and crafts to movie nights, board games, pamper days, pottery, music quizzes, or simply a coffee and a chat, there is something for everyone at The Cwtsh!”
Everyone is welcome, and we can’t wait to see this wonderful community continue to grow.
As part of Cartrefi’s new places strategy, it has moved from its former office premises on the outskirts of Haverfordwest in favour of a new multi-use hub in the Riverside shopping centre. This reflects Cartrefi’s desire to be front and centre of local communities, with vibrant and inclusive spaces that everyone can make use of.
